Fire crews are continuing to battle a blaze at a waste processing site near Glasgow.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at the Linwood Transfer Station at 6.45am on Wednesday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said six fire engines along with specialist appliances were despatched to the site, and that a “large quantity of refuse” was on fire.
As at about 11.30am, the SFRS confirmed four appliances remain at the scene while crews continue to battle the blaze.
There are no reported casualties, and Viridor, which runs the facility, said all its staff are “safe and accounted for”.
The company added that the nearby council-run household waste recycling facility has been closed “as a precaution”.
In a statement, Viridor said: “This morning, a fire was reported at Linwood Transfer Station.
“The SFRS is currently onsite and has the fire contained.
“All colleagues are safe and accounted for.
“The council-run Household Waste Recycling Centre next door to the site will be closed today as a precaution.
“At this time, there are no further details available as to the cause of the fire.
“We are thankful to the onsite team and the SFRS for their swift action.”
